Help Create an Environment of Welcome and Rest

Volunteers can strengthen Hospitality & Refuge through practical service, professional skills and guest support. Because the Centre may host families and vulnerable guests, volunteering should be structured, supervised and role-appropriate.

Possible volunteer areas

• Guest welcome and reception support
• Housekeeping and linen support
• Food preparation and kitchen assistance
• Gardening and grounds care
• Maintenance and repairs
• Event and group-retreat support
• Administration and booking support
• Hospitality training
• Security-support functions where properly authorised
• Reading, music or recreational activities under approved programmes
• Photography and communications only under consent and privacy rules

Volunteer standards

Depending on the role, volunteers may be required to provide identification, references, qualifications, background information or safeguarding documentation. Volunteer status does not automatically provide access to guest rooms, personal guest information, children or restricted areas.
