The Hospitality Centre should be welcoming, but it should not accept needs it is not equipped to manage safely.
Hospitality is not a substitute for
- Emergency police protection
- Secure shelter for someone fleeing an active violent threat
- Inpatient medical care
- Psychiatric hospitalisation or crisis stabilisation
- Addiction detoxification or residential treatment
- Child residential care or alternative care placement
- Long-term homelessness accommodation without an approved transition plan
- Custodial or correctional supervision
If there is immediate danger
Use the appropriate emergency or statutory service. In Kenya, Police emergency numbers are 999, 112 and 911. Child protection concerns can be reported through 116, and the national GBV helpline is 1195.
